HOW TO…MAKE A TEMPLATE

Templates are useful because you make a form that you use often, save, and use it again and again.
It keeps you from having to type the same information over and over.

  1. Start>All Programs>Microsoft Works>Microscoft Works Word Processor
  2. View>Toolbars>Standard
  3. File>Page Setup>Margins>Source, Size & Orientation (select yours)>OK
  4. View>Header and Footer (see extra toolbar)
  5. Align cursor left, center, or right by clicking icon of horizontal lines
  6. Type name of Template>click on date and time icons if desired
  7. To insert a picture if desired, Insert>Picture>Clip Art or From File
  8. On extra toolbar, click icon that says switch between Header and Footer
  9. Click on # icon on toolbar, if you desire to number pages
  10. On Toolbar, click on Font, Size, and Color selections>File>Save
  11. Save in: My Documents>File name: type in name>Save as type:Works Template>Save
  12. Click X Close on Toolbar
  13. X out of Word Processor

Using Your Template

  1. Start>All Programs>Microsoft Works >Microsoft Works Task Launcher>Personal Templates>Click on the template you want to use>Start this task
  2. File>Save as>Save in: My Documents>File name: type in name of template>Save as type: Works Document>Save
  3. Type report or letter
  4. File>Print Preview> On toolbar increase size to 100%>If you need to make corrections, click X Close and make them> then File>Print Preview>Print

If you want, because you use it often, you can place your template on your Desktop.
File>Save As>Save in>Click Desktop>Save
